Conservatives should favour controlling public spending.
And it isn’t true that Labour is “cutting pensions” (just not increasing pensions quite so much).
There’s plenty to criticise in Burnham’s agenda, but the triple lock reform is sensible. This is a poor response.
@BBCNews You have to ask why they want to march through a nationalist area. The same would apply to nationalists marching through a loyalist area. It looks like just a deliberate attempt to provoke.
@SREVELAINARCAD1@TPensions@downingstreet@UKLabour@silvervoicesuk That will rather depend on whether or not you need care which currently requires you to sell your house! As I said what is wrong with linking pensions to inflation or 2.5%? Pensions continually outpacing the earnings of the rest of the population is clearly unsustainable.
@SREVELAINARCAD1@TPensions@downingstreet@UKLabour@silvervoicesuk Virtually all economists say the triple lock is unsustainable. I cannot see a justification for pensioners constantly getting relatively better off than the rest of the population - a huge transfer from young to old. Removing one part of the triple lock is hardly impoverishment.
@SREVELAINARCAD1@benhabib6 The essence of populism is claiming there are simple solutions to complex problems because that is what a lot of people want to hear. The people purveying this nonsense don’t necessarily believe it themselves.
@9Kings1910@SREVELAINARCAD1 Surely the problem here was the owner of a venue using his power to suppress the expression of an opinion he didn’t like - a blatant attack on free speech.
