That’s not a small detail.

Canada didn’t reject trade. It rejected trading away its sovereignty.

Maybe everyone cheering a trade war should remember that supply chains work both ways.

@BoswellDoug I am worried about the impact on my own business, and I’m very worried about Canadians who could lose jobs or homes.

But concern is not capitulation.

Carney should negotiate hard and keep talking, but Canada still has to defend its own interests and be prepared to walk away.

Canada will not whine or beg. We will build, diversify and compete, Europe, Asia and wherever Canadian businesses find customers.

That isn’t anti-American. It’s pro-Canadian.

We can spend more without pretending Canada hasn’t been an ally.

@JayTC53 Trump signed USMCA and called it the best trade deal ever. Then he imposed tariffs that raised costs and made Canada rethink its dependence on one market.
Canada responding by expanding trade with Europe and Asia isn’t betrayal, it’s capitalism.

If the principle is really about protecting young lives, it should apply after birth too.

It mostly tells you which side is more likely to put up signs and flags. Plenty of patriotic Canadians don’t feel the need to advertise it on their lawn.

@RWMaloneMD The issue isn’t that Kennedy lacks an MD. HHS secretaries are supposed to rely on expert scientific bodies. The concern is that Kennedy has repeatedly reshaped those bodies around conclusions he already holds.

The sailors can be tough, proud and performing an extraordinary mission while also enduring poor conditions, shortages and enormous mental strain.

When someone says they want a president to “unleash on the Muslims” they’re not criticizing extremism, they’re targeting an entire religion.
Loomer has a long record of anti-Muslim rhetoric. At some point, let's call it what it is.

Some Canadians do seek faster care abroad. And yes, people die while on wait lists but “died while waiting” does not mean “died because of the wait.”
Canada’s weakness is timely access. America’s is financial access.

Modern successful economies are mixed systems: private markets plus public programs like Social Security, Medicare, schools and infrastructure.
Calling every social program “communism” just avoids the real debate.

@EricLDaugh This is the language that worries me. In a democracy, the opposition is an opponent, not an “existential threat” that must be eliminated. Once you convince people the other party threatens the nation itself, almost any measure taken against it can be sold as necessary.

Muslim? Call them a “jihadist.”
Progressive? Call them a “communist.”
Disagree with Trump? You’re an enemy of the country.
No evidence required. No policy argument necessary.

NIH funded research in Wuhan. Oversight failures deserve scrutiny.
But “Fauci funded the research that caused COVID” has never been established.
