Let me translate. Scott Pelley is such a self centered idiot that he didn’t realize that CBS could fire him for cause, and then not have to pay out his contract. So he is now trying to prove that they were wrong.
BREAKING: Scott Pelley Just Made A Pretty Stunning Allegation.
According to Pelley, CBS leadership wanted a story about the killing of ICE protester Renée Good changed to better match Trump's version of events.
Pelley says he was told management wanted protesters portrayed as more violent and wanted Good described as driving toward the officer who shot her. He says the video evidence showed otherwise.
Then came the admission.
"There was a thumb on the scale for the president's version of events."
A veteran journalist with 37 years at CBS is alleging political pressure was applied to change the facts of a story.
That's a remarkable accusation.
Perhaps 80 years after the end of WW 2 Americans are just saying that 500 million Europeans have to stop asking 330 million Americans to protect them from 160 million Russians.
Europe’s Generals Are Saying the Quiet Part Out Loud
Germany’s top military man, General Carsten Breuer, stood up at the Shangri-La Dialogue in Singapore this week and said something that should have been said years ago: Europe needs clarity from Washington on whether America actually intends to defend it.
This comes, conveniently, right after US Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth demanded allies spend 3.5% of GDP on defense while simultaneously warning that China is building a military capable of eating the Pacific for breakfast. Which is a reasonable concern, except that it somewhat implies American attention will be pointed firmly in the other direction when Russia eventually decides to test whether NATO’s Article 5 is a guarantee or a suggestion.
Breuer, to his credit, also called out China’s decision to send a delegation without a single minister-level representative to a major security conference. He called it a “lost chance.” I’d call it a message. A fairly clear one.
And then there’s the Russia warning. Breuer said Moscow could threaten NATO territory by 2029. Not 2045. Not “someday, maybe.” 2029. That’s three years from now. That’s before most infrastructure projects finish their planning phase.
Europe has spent thirty years assuming someone else would handle this. It turns out that someone else has opinions about GDP percentages and a complicated relationship with its own alliance commitments. The generals have noticed.
And remember the US agreed to allow France to be treated as a WW 2 victor when their actual performance was embarrassing defeat, attacking US and British troops in North Africa, Nazi collaboration, sending Jews to death camps, and demanding we deny reality.
@AriFleischer@JonahDispatch Don’t forget: When Reagan hit Gaddafi in 1986 after Libya killed Americans, France refused U.S. F-111s overflight rights. Our fighters had to fly a ridiculous 3,000+ mile detour around the entire Iberian Peninsula.
Some “ally.”
The NATO Secretary General says that Europe couldn’t even begin to defend itself until each country was spending 10% of their GDP’s on defense. Their current average spending is under 2%. Europeans should not continue to depend on US blood and treasure to defend itself
Americans, I think i would be best for everyone if you could just withdraw for the time being, until you have a decent, competent, well-organised person in charge again
Then a lot can be mended
For the past 30+years NATO has been an alliance where European nations - and Canada - have relied on American blood and treasure to protect them from once again killing each other. Our position should be that we will not support any member not spending 5% on defense.
I agree with some of this directionally, but my God the refusal to acknowledge that Trump has worked assiduously to poison the alliance and heap all the blame on Europe is just water-carrying hackery.
Saying "NATO will never be the same, and Western European weakness and acquiescence is the cause" is like writing a movie review when you missed the first half of the movie.
It’s not necessary to announce your departure. No one knows where you live now, and care even less where you might choose to live in the future. Celebrities need to understand that outside the fields that they’re celebrated for no one cares what they think, say or do.
This is great news because it gives European countries the opportunity to expel Spain from NATO as they have refused to fund their portion of the alliance.
This is the EU that happily supported Russia by purchasing their oil and gas, and failed to fund EU militaries - preferring to depend on US blood and treasure to stop Europeans - once again - from killing each other. Enough!
European foreign policy chief @kajakallas is tough and smart. She's right to hold Rubio accountable for refusing to confront Moscow--and, now, for enriching it.
This is absolutely infuriating and completely idiotic.
An estimated 95,000 scientists and researchers have left federal agencies since Trump returned to the White House. These are the people tracking hurricanes, studying pediatric cancer, and modeling the climate tipping points that determine whether we can still prevent catastrophe.
We lost them because this administration defunded their work, shuttered their offices, and made clear that finding out the truth is no longer a government priority.
NASA’s own administrator just said studying climate change isn’t part of NASA’s mission. The agency that first warned Congress about global warming in 1988 now treats that work as a distraction.
Meanwhile, China and Europe are recruiting our scientists, funding their labs, and making long-term bets on the industries of the future while we gut the research infrastructure that took generations to build.
We are surrendering global scientific leadership voluntarily, deliberately, and one resignation letter at a time.

Always important to remember that this poor excuse for an American actively supported the killing of American soldiers, going so far as to participate with a north Vietnam gun crew shooting at American planes.
Jane Fonda: “This is the first time in the history of the US that an authoritarian regime has broken through. Worldwide historians who study these things all agree it has never happened so fast in any industrialized democracy. He is moving to consolidate very very fast which means right now we have to use the tools we have to stop it”
America refused to fight the Nazis until they had to. One of the most evil regimes in history and they didn’t want to fight them. Don’t lecture the UK.
This is my Prime Minister, a calm and rational thinker.
“The United States and Israel have acted without engaging the United Nations or consulting allies, including Canada.”

Europe can resolve this by expelling the US from its European bases, and use the freed up land to build Russian language schools. Or, it can grow up and begin being responsible for its own defense.
🇺🇸 For a year now, the United States has treated Europe as irrelevant.
Today, US aircraft move freely from America through European bases on their way to the Middle East, as if nothing has changed.
And the question Europe should ask is: why should Europe help make that possible? The US is not matching Europe’s level of commitment to Ukraine, and it is openly threatening to annex Greenland.
We know Trump supports Putin.
So the question is simple: is it time for Europe to reconsider access to American bases on its soil? What’s your opinion?
The Mayor of Milan called ICE a “militia that kills” and said they aren’t welcome.
JD Vance got booed in unison by the entire crowd.
Quite the reputation we’ve built up abroad.
Perhaps you missed the First Amendment class in law school where they mentioned that it only restricts government actions, but then you statement is non sensical
lawyer here
WaPo firing a third of its staff is illegal
the First Amendment says “freedom of the press”
if a billionaire fires the press, there is no more freedom of the press, just freedom of billionaires
Bezos should be charged pretty soon
Europeans have become anti Trump/America because they resent us telling them that they now need to grow up and pay for their own defense. As a veteran who was once stationed in Europe, I would never again want one dollar or one drop of American blood to be expended on Europe.
Great, but perhaps you should first accept responsibility for your own defense. The US is is finished spending our blood and treasure protecting you from each other.
Europe is the best place to live hands down.
Best quality of life, best employment security, best chances to succeed, best healthcare systems, most freedom anywhere.
