@tomhgill@RPMComo@JimSpenceDundee Endemic? Not sure it meets that description tbh (regularly found, constantly present…….over 228 games per season?). Also, difficult to describe some similar events as joyful while others should get “life without parole” judgements meted out.
@weecp1@TessW62@JChimirie66677 However you cut it up, a number of nations answered the call of support. Over 1000 NATO forces lost their lives. That doesn’t happen if, as he says, you keep away from the frontlines…..btw in an insurgency there is no front line. It was a crass, deliberate comment.
@weecp1@TessW62@JChimirie66677 Safe to say he was utterly disrespectful to all of the non US war dead from the conflict. He didn’t discern based on nationality, it’s a stretch for you to perhaps do so too, “I think he was having a dig” clearly is not factual. That ”dig” would also be aimed at war dead too.
@thomas_bhoy@BigMKilo@BethRigby Careful Tommy, the poster doesn’t like a reasoned reply. No military spends its whole budget on hardware, including the US. Facts are inconvenient to some folk in these discussions.
@BigMKilo@BethRigby This is total defence spending for the US, including its non euro bases across the indo-pacific, ME, US etc. which don’t contribute to NATO defences. US NATO spend is estimated at $33B, a lot…… but not $968B! Bases in Korea, Japan, Philipines etc aren’t NATO.
@impersonator999@DONKINGDONOSO@ianbremmer@Kobrakaisensai@markwnk That’s true, as it turns out mistakenly so. That level of trust or reliance on fuel supplies will be v hard to Justin future. Not sure about your proxy piece, whichever way we look at it, Russia started the conflict. Arms supply after that reduced a rivals strategic capacity.
@ianbremmer@Kobrakaisensai@markwnk I fear the US has taken an under mercantile approach to all things related to friends and allies. The strategic defence protection they offered since WW2 suited them. Europe wouldn’t be the competitor it could be, $ would be basis for trade.
@ianbremmer@Kobrakaisensai@markwnk The current approach is v patriarchal and binary with a $ cost put to everything. They should be careful that friends (Europe) don’t become strategic rivals who have options to look east at US rivals (China) for more balanced relationships compared to what is currently on offer.
@flyinglawyer73@WarMonitor3 A good and well put question. I follow @warmonitor3 but some of the sourcing and referencing of information has recently been questionable at best. Let’s try to keep it factual and truth based imo.
