Ijesha Youth Forum Meets Area Commander to Strengthen Security in Ijeshaland
As part of our commitment to promoting peace, security, and sustainable development in Ijeshaland, I had the privilege of leading the executive members of Ijesa Youth Forum @IYF_NHQ on a courtesy and strategic security visit to the Area Commander of the Nigeria Police in Ijeshaland.
Our discussions focused on critical security concerns affecting our communities, including cultism and recurring cult-related clashes, political violence, kidnapping, banditry, and abduction. We emphasized the need for stronger collaboration between the Ijesha Youth Forum and the Nigeria Police Force in addressing these challenges and ensuring the continued peace and safety of our people.
We commended the Area Commander and all officers of the Nigeria Police for their dedication and tireless efforts in maintaining law and order across Ijeshaland. Their commitment has significantly contributed to the relative peace currently enjoyed in our communities, and we encouraged them to remain steadfast in the discharge of their duties.
We also appealed for increased sensitization of police officers on the need to conduct their operations professionally, particularly in their interactions with commercial motorcycle riders (Okada operators), to prevent unnecessary harassment while maintaining safety.
We urged the Police Command to remain impartial, resist all forms of undue influence, and uphold the rule of law without fear or favour. We stressed that professionalism, fairness, and neutrality are essential to ensuring peaceful elections and sustaining public confidence in the security agencies.
The Ijesha Youth Forum remains committed to working closely with security agencies, traditional institutions, government, and all stakeholders to build a peaceful, secure, and prosperous Ijeshaland for everyone.
VIDEO🚨: “I watched them kill my husband before my eyes,” says the wife of slain Accord member, Aderogba, as she recounts the tragic events surrounding his death in Esa-Oke.
Governor Ademola Adeleke has demanded justice, condemning the incident and raising concerns over escalating political violence in Osun State.
Governor Ademola Adeleke @AAdeleke_01 today paid a condolence visit to the people of Esa-Oke and to the family of the late Ajayi Rogba, who tragically lost his life following a violent attack allegedly carried out by APC thugs in the community. The Governor expressed his sympathies to the bereaved family and the entire community, while praying for the peaceful repose of the deceased and calling for justice.
I have just placed before the international community docs evidence relating to political violence, killings, and threats to democratic participation in Osun State.
