@ThePumponomics I’d love you to invest in my crypto portfolio. It has good potential, but please understand the risks and invest only what you can afford to lose.
road to (hopefully) $30m | month 5 recap
the goal, for anyone new: documenting a run from $6m to $30m in spot crypto ($5m start plus $1m added in june), every position shown, the losses too.
running tally: $6m start, $10.4m peak in may, july closed just under $7m. august closes around $9.7m. best month since may, first green one in three.
august is when crypto finally woke up. bitcoin found a bid mid month and everything came with it. here's what i did.
sold hyperliquid early in the month for around $800k in gains. it had run to 70 and come back into the high 50s, and my read was that it would range from there for a while. i wanted that capital in something i had higher conviction on over the next twelve months. a few weeks later everything ripped and hype went back to 80, so the sell timing wasn't great. i got the money working again in time though, and i'll take an $800k realized gain on a few months of holding.
trimmed about two thirds of fartcoin and pepe for a -$300k realized loss. i'd sized those heavy in late july and i wanted them back closer to what my conviction actually supports. there was one more shakeout before the move up and i sold into it. both ran hard about three weeks later than i expected, and i was at a third of the size for it. that's how it goes sometimes.
then zcash, which is where all my cash went from the other sales (aside from some dust i threw in sol/hype/btc).
back in july my fartcoin bids were at 11, 12 and 13 cents. i pulled them and bought at 16 because it looked like it was leaving without me, and after i bought it went straight back down (lol).
so when zcash was sitting in the high 400s, i was determined not to chase twice in a row. i wanted 380 to 450. bitcoin was at 63-64k, a trip back to 60k looked live, and buying at 400 instead of 500 is 20% more coins on the position i care most about.
well, the flush never came. and i bought in the high 500s on the way up, and it's in the high 800s now. i wanted the cheaper coins and didn't get them. but, i got the position, which was the actual objective. though the execution wasn't great.
after i bought, i moved zcash off coinbase and then shielded it. i wanted it somewhere that isn't one click from a sell button.
where the book stands: zcash is basically all that matters. fartcoin and pepe are what's left after the trim. dust of sol/hype/btc. no cash, it's all deployed.
two portfolio screenshots below instead of one. zcash lives in a shielded wallet now and the others are on coinbase, so there's no single view anymore.
the plan from here is the simple one, own what i believe in and sit still.
so these recaps should get boring, which is good.
last thing. it's been a long year of prices going down. bitcoin finally showed a pulse this month and everything came up with it. there's hope on the timeline again and i have some too.
month five done.
