Something else to keep in mind if you supported Trump: you might not support the next person who attempts a coup - and who succeeds.
A conviction now defends your liberty thence.
Here's the risk if Trump isn’t convicted:
A future president will try to overturn the election at the end of their term.
If they succeed, they’re president for life.
If they fail, and can’t be held to account, we can expect it to happen again.
There must be consequences.
There is an enemy within. It’s a small group of elites who believe their ability to siphon massive amounts of money away from people means they are inherently more capable of making the “big decisions” for us.
They see the government as an outdated relic they can make more efficient just by having it do whatever they want. I know this from personal experience with oligarchs, including one of the four below. Empathy doesn’t enter their thoughts at any time. They see people as labor and resources, and as a mechanism of their own glorification. If you get on the wrong side of their personal calculations, or wound their egos, they will cut your throat without hesitation.
Humanity has always had this type of person. The problem arises when a society *sanctions* and *subsidizes* them and allows them to gain enough power to destroy the system they got their power from. In that scenario, you have a society in danger of collapse, and a system that has stopped functioning.
“Power corrupts and absolute power corrupts absolutely.”
These elites, almost exclusively men, rationalize their narcissism and deviant cruelty with self-soothing stories about their own personal genius—which is validated by a self-selected group of sycophants who make sure that is the only story they hear. But in almost every case, they are far from geniuses. They are generally dumb, insecure, deeply cruel men who have simply mastered the art of lying to people.
Trump is just the carnival barker for the real danger to democracy—billionaires. We must tax them out of existence and take our country back. You cannot negotiate with these people. You cannot coexist with them. They must be defeated.

Before Russians murdered him, the President of Chechnya, Dudaev explained that Russia uses treaties as a military tool, signing when they're in trouble, giving time to re-arm, then returning to kill everyone and erase the cities.
"This is Russia, an empire of evil"
NATO countries should send troops to Ukraine to help it defend its own territory.
UN Charter perfectly allows this and it would be the best strategic decision Europe can do.
Russian tanks are fighting in Ukraine.
North Korean troops are fighting in Ukraine.
Chinese weapons are being used in Ukraine.
Iranian drones are being fired in Ukraine.
The battle for Ukraine is a battle to defeat the axis of evil.
Defeat it now or watch the cancer spread.
The Trump candidacy is not so much a political campaign as what intelligence services call an influence operation, a coordinated effort to use mis-and-disinformation to undermine democratic institutions and processes.
@keithboykin 90% of Ukraine aid spending stays in the U.S., creating thousands of jobs.
100 new industrial manufacturing facilities, creating thousands of jobs across at least 38 states directly, with vital subcomponents sourced from all 50 states.
"Trump is a threat to democracy. That was true before an assassination attempt at his golf course; it remains true.
"Political violence and assassinating presidential candidates also threaten democracy.
"There's no contradiction between these ideas." https://t.co/h0Q7u2XBA8
Balance is a false god. Treating a fact and a lie as equal is not balance but malpractice. It favors the liar. The press is protected in this country so it can protect democracy. That's also your job as you moderate tonight.
