Farewell to GIRL, INTERRUPTED at @PublicTheaterNY, which plays its final performance tonight.
I had to sing the praises of Juliana Canfield, who delivers a smart and deeply-moving musical performance:
I would like to give kudos to AOC for once again being the only adult leftist and avoiding Graham Platner like the plague
It's amazing how many times the rest of the left does something apocalyptically stupid and the only one who avoids having to backtrack is Cortez. Given she's a) way smarter than any other leftist political figure in America and b) a woman under 40, I suspect she took one look at Platner, thought "I would not leave my drink unattended near that guy," and stayed as far away from him as possible
Platner was from a very specific moment in the post-Election period where the narrative was Democrats had to do more to appeal to White men. And he was elevated without vetting for that reason; his red flags were sold as credentials for that community.
Juliana Canfield is a marvel to watch in the emotionally harrowing and theatrically enriching GIRL, INTERRUPTED by Martyna Majok and Aimee Mann at @PublicTheaterNY.

This week someone targeted my family for harm with a false report. We’re physically OK, but that doesn’t mean we weren’t harmed. I am beyond furious.
Whatever your politics, this is awful, wrong, and can never become normal. https://t.co/72wxaVLzVT
James — you were a force as a director, but what I'll remember most is the kindness you brought to every set.
I'll miss you dearly.
I'm still waiting to find out what a yellow light means...
Love,
Jim
Lesley Manville closed in Oedipus on Broadway on February 8, flew overnight to London, and walked into rehearsals for Les Liaisons Dangereuses at the National the next morning—completely off book.
She closed in Liaisons *last night* and now she's back in NY for tonight's Tonys.
