Unpopular opinion: Paddy Pimblett's performance was brilliant but right before the submission, he got hitcwith slow punches which shows how weakhis striking skill and defense. I hope he addresses thstcesp. If he's fighting Ilia.
Gilas vs. NZ thoughts: Gilas needs to be more aggressive on offense. I don't know what happened but we missed a lot of uncontested perimeter jumpers. JB is playing a role yesterday so cannot blame him... but Tamayo and KQ needs to be more aggressive!
Paddy Pimbpett really needs to know how to box. It's one thing to know how to strike, but knowing how to set up your punches versus your opponent's punches is another thing.
Paddy Pimbpett played the Gaethje game and got outclassed. It's really weird to think to go toe to toe without the right training for it. He should've shooting for take downs in the first seconds or bait him tight before kicking or punching.
Let's not discredit Chinese Taipei's build up for their Men's BBall Team... they added size from imports and spped from their locals. If Chen Ying-Chun consistently shoots the ball like what he did vs PH, this Taiwan team is a dark horse of the Asia Cup
Things to note about this 2025 Asia Cup Gilas roster:
1. Slow start offensively AND defensively
2. No prominent shooters, only JB and DR
3. Rotation got risksss: either u go with offensive OR defensive players.
4. Tamayo is struggling, Malonzo not in rotation
Sorry but Tamayo and Quiambao is not fit for Tim Cone’s system. It would have benefited the team if Troy Rosario played. AJ Edu is special, just need guards who can really run the plays.
The Luka Doncic trade really did him bad. The anticipated max contract is now impossible to docwhen you have LBJ on your team, they broke the working synergy he had with Kyrie and left him like he’s a declining player despite bringing his team to finals last season.
I dont believe Brasil made big adjustments for the 2nd half… loose defense and hesitation to shoot put us in a difficult situation. It felt like a PBA game for Gilas… but instead of continuously dominating it… they got scared of it.
Porzingis sudden appearance shocked the Mavs and poor shooting from key players didn’t help their case.
Atill a good game for Luka but i expect them to adjust well next game. That 3rd quarter run is actually a sign that they can, they just should.
I hope Kai Sotto and his agency is looking at the emergence of Derrick Lively II and how he helped Dallas reach the Finals. Sotto has been making good strides and i think he can apso be a dominating force once he trains more on how to controls the paint.
@HomerSayson PBA is stuck to the idea that adding imports and renoving height restriction will give less opportunity to Filipinos. We should scrap All-Filipino and have a longer basketball season! Tama na yabg pinoy pride na yan. If our Asian neighbors can do it, we also can!
Just by looking at how Justin Baltazar move with Strong Group team, iyou can see that he went backwards from where he left off from his Gilas stint. I hope he realizes that he got better opportunity to grow in a pro league that to dominate a league lower than your level of play.
With his Gilas experience and UAAP Championship title, Kevin Quiambao is a star just waiting to shine in the pro league. He didn't really have that c9nfidence and 3pt shot when he was with Gilas but look at him now... That's work ethic! Never stop until you develop, young blood!
I did YT marathon of the 2 versions of Kai Sotto (NBL and JBLeague) and i can honestly say... "what happened to the development?!"
He was already 7'3" during NBL but i see that he really got slower on the post now and inactive in second chance defense. I don't like what i'm see.
I just recently watched Kai Sotto's recwnt games after his comeback and i hope he's really better from his injuries. His posture ia getting worst, really feels unstable in the paint, he lost his perimenter shots, and he looks really slow. What happened!?
