I love Gen Z but sometimes their mindset still leaves me speechless.
My niece has been applying for jobs for 19 months. Rejection after rejection. She’s living at home, applying every single day, no backup plan, no “I’ll just take anything.”
Yesterday she finally got an offer.
Decent salary. Good company. Role she actually wanted.
Then the hiring manager casually drops:
“Just so you know, we expect everyone to be available on Slack after 9 p.m. a few times a week. Nothing major. Just when things come up.”
