@benmoores2@kejamieson_ I can recommend the Museo Nacional de las Intervenciones in Mexico City, though I was there many years ago. Sometimes known as the museum of defeats, it deals with the many military conflicts and interventions on Mexican territory. Fascinating stuff.
@icod My parents died when I was 19 and then 26. My experience is not comparable to someone losing their parents in childhood, but equally is very different to many of my contemporaries whose parents died when they were in their 40s or 50s.
@AllisonPearson Would that be the same Judeo-Christian values that expelled Jews from England in 1290, an expulsion that lasted the best part of 400 years?
@militaryhistori@LordAshcroft Ashcroft only mentions Dame Janet Beer my name, the only trustee whose biography on the IWM website mentions diversity and inclusion (as if these are bad things). Cherry picking nonsense.
@DrBenSpencer Do you acknowledge that your government’s underfunding of criminal justice since 2010 may have made this move inevitable, if not desirable? Funding estimated to be 30% below where it should be to keep pace with inflation and population growth?
Watching @BBCNews . I realise its reach is international, but can the presenters please speak British English? I just heard that something happened Saturday rather than ON Saturday. Preposition needed.
@BoveFromAbove@Jim_Cornelius Before today I suppose I rather naively thought that the RN would have a permanent presence in the Mediterranean. Why bother clinging on to Gibraltar otherwise?
@opt1m1st1ccyn1c@YourAnonNews Broadly agree, and it’s true Roosevelt steered a skillful course through the Neutrality Act to support the UK, however the US Navy only started escorting merchant shipping half-way across the Atlantic at the beginning of September ’41, 3 months before Germany declared war v US.
@RobertJenrick No matter what you think of her actions, removing her citizenship was a disgraceful abrogation of responsibility by the last government, creating a dangerous precedent for anyone with recent overseas ancestry. Two tier citizenship.
@JamesCleverly I genuinely don’t understand why farmers feel aggrieved at paying tax at the same rate as the rest of us - seems manifestly unfair, particularly in cases where land was bought to dodge IHT in the first place.
@bbcquestiontime@BBCiPlayer@BBCSounds@BBCOne I hope Fiona Bruce is prepared to shut Zia Yusuf down when he starts answering a different question, and talks on to fill the available time. He’s very good at it and very thick skinned.
