Producing food has consequences that must be absolutely minimised, to protect ecosystems, biodiversity and our ocean wilderness. I think that requires thoughtful action, accountability and honesty. The absolute priority of the UK Government is protecting the Belfast/Good Friday Agreement and the institutions that spring from it. As @SpeakerPelosi knows we seek an ambitious FTA with the US. But there can be no connection between that and doing the right thing for NI. None.

Perhaps more so - are they signalling their assessment of the sutuation in the Kremlin, alerting western diplomats to Putin's mental state in a way that wont get them fired? Retweeting to raise it to "sovereign territory" would underline that.

@davidmcw Data centres: a huge threat to greening Irish electricity. They have the capital to buy output from the cheapest renewable projects, without paying for the grid/storage impact, so small consumers = price-takers for expensive power, socialised grid costs & EU penalties (via PSO)

The choice was only whether to put it on Ireland (300 crossings, GFA), in the Irish Sea (3 ports, GFA) or within the EU (Ireland's sovereignty). Frost & UK negotiated to put it in the Irish Sea. You regret it too then?

@salmonfarming1 @impactnine @fiskeridir @hatchblue1 I can only speculate on economies of scale for Ocean Farm 1 , but our analysis indicates we need to hit €40 per cubic containment and avoid adding to OPEX. Otherwise government intervention to transfer profits from in-fjord farming (or similar mechanism) is a permanent feature.

Take renewable energy for example: why not a "feed-in-tariff" for particular forms of fish production or an auction for Contracts-for-Difference to meet out of market costs. These would ensure a drive to competitiveness and productivity.
