@TheFarmgineer Your “natural ground” is compacted. No-till is more than just neglected land and a fancy seed drill. Radishes are good for compacted ground similar to how tillage is good for compacted ground. However radishes won’t consume as much micro biome when easing that compaction.
@jarluh Unimproved warm season paddocks. We are no-tilling oats, clover, and annual ryegrass. It’s extremely common down here to no-till into improved Bermuda used for hay. We just don’t have any improved Bermuda.
@jarluh As soon as calving slows down, we get them on thick stockpiled fescue for breeding which buys us a little time until the oats are going strong. Fall moisture can vary significantly with tropical storms which can shift the timing. Sometimes we get December grazing on oats
@jarluh We certainly don’t have it figured out yet, still tinkering. We are probably overstocked by 10-20%. We are transitioning from warm season stockpile to cool season annuals at that time. We also like to calve during hay feeding season because it’s easier to find calves.
