Managed to chase my first SOTA today using Morse. I also hope to have another 3 chased but waiting on the logs being uploaded to be sure. Still along way to go… but getting there in very small steps.
Out this afternoon testing an antenna to use with a kite in the coming weeks. Bands not in great shape but made a few contacts on 80/40 metres, happy enough with the way it performed
Had my first dabble into ft8 tonight. Took a while to get up and running, but with 5 watts made 20 contacts around Europe on the 80 and 40 metre bands.
The kx2 showing off its new stand that was 3D printed for me by a member of the club. It folds down flat for the rucksack. Looking forward to using it on the next portable outing. Thanks @Claybird007
This started as a hike and a hopeful activation of GI/MM-003 but the weather wasn’t the best at the summit. 3 hours of heavy driving rain along with high winds and low temperatures at the summit only gave time for a quick chocolate bar and swift decent with no activation.
Where the Mountains Of Mourne sweep down to the sea. I took this photo this afternoon when I got home from work before the rain started. The rains stop a portable run out with the radio this evening. So I’ll be monitoring CQUK on wiresx.
Start of the WWFF activation of GIFF-0037 tonight on 80 metres and also WAB square J57. I got 12 contacts using 9 watts and a linked dipole supported on 7 metre fibreglass pole, the ends of the dipole where about 0.5 metres of the ground.
My first WWFF activation today of GIFF-0016 cloughy rocks. I used the 9:1 unun with 135 foot of wire. It tuned up great on 80/40 and 20 metres giving me 51 contacts in just under 2 hours.
