But they are different and should be defined so that applying both terms is unambiguous.

Socialism is an economic model or system, whereas communism is a political system.

Socialism in the absence of communism was practiced without government controls in a purely voluntary manner. One example was the Oneida Community in New York in the 1800s. A more recent example is traditional kibbutzim in Israel, although many have transitioned away from strict socialism. Western European countries are not socialist because they are generally mixed market economies with most businesses privately owned.

A government forcing people to observe socialism is a political system or communism. That force can be violent, as with the Bolsheviks, or it can be non-violent, defined by laws, regulations, and tax policy.

Because there is nothing voluntary about what many in the Democratic Party advocate, they can be correctly labeled as communists.

The study does not take into account that tax credits would be relevant if the studio were to come such that the tax credits would offset actual taxes not paid. If the studio does not come, there would be no lost taxes. Also the study fails to account for the increased revenue to the state from economic benefits to the region.

What is behind No Kings?

TV reports show thousands in several cities. When interviewed, almost all demonstrators repeated well-known clichés. They are seldom pressed for details, such as what policies they are specifically against. The greatest detail they can express is anger at ICE, making claims that they are going around arresting innocent people, mostly US citizens.

Reports indicate that the protests are organized and well-funded, indicated by the pre-made professional signs and their high degree of organization.

While the various groups supporting these protests may have different ultimate goals, they share initial goals: opening the borders, preventing the deportation of those in the country illegally, preventing voter ID and/or proof of citizenship, and encouraging or allowing election cheating.

These goals are hidden beneath the superficial cliches or false ICE claims. Polls show most Americans do not share those goals, but they are being duped. The danger is the crowds and uninformed comments might motivate some to embrace movements whose goals they don’t support.

People are more motivated when they are told to oppose rather than support, but we need to constantly educate everyone and pressure the media to ask questions to push back against the cliches and slogans.

I never said or implied you created those designations, but your application of them to the discussion at hand was flawed.

Most owners will not deplete their resources investing in a team with decades of poor attendance and a poor stadium. The one exception in A's ownership history was Walter Haas who spent and lost millions and attendance was still below AL averages for a majority of years under his ownership. Revenue drives investment, not the other way around.

The market was not shared equally by the Giants and A's as most were or are Giants fans. Because you mentioned #10 media market, that is determined by viewership in specific counties. If the East Bay counties, Alameda and Contra Costra, were their own media market, they would rank #36. Not much above Las Vegas media market #40, but without the huge tourist advantage of Las Vegas.

As a side point, the only markets currently with 2 MLB teams are the top 3, NY, LA, and Chicago. It was a mistake to ever move a second team to the Bay Area.
