#uted yesterday a student told me he was going to dropout of high school. I wasn't terribly surprised. He has struggled all year. Still sad. Not tons of options for high dropouts. How do you motivate someone with no motivation?

@kristaruggles Teach appropriate technology skills and behaviors. Phones are the biggest struggle in my school. I avoid phone abstinence rules, they are difficult to enforce and are not the hill I want to die on.

@kristaruggles Loved @ajmerritt response. Teachers need to set boundaries and schedule you time to recharge. One colleague refuses to do any work at home. I exercise before and after school. Lately I'm loving @GregoryMcKeown Essentialism. Use the word "No" more often.

@kristaruggles Just one?! Yikes! One LMS: Canvas, Google Classroom, Summit, etc. Once you have an umbrella program, all the other software come easily

@kristaruggles @ucet Polish your classroom management skills and learn a handful of engaging easy teaching strategies that can be used in any situation. Content and grade levels change, but the above items have lasting power. And love the students! They are a gift any day.
