I started thinking about what I want to do with my life. So I decided to take an online career quiz. The number one result: crossing guard. Please keep me in your thoughts and prayers in these trying times.
PS: I have nothing against crossing guards. I just don’t want to be one.
No, you don't get it.
He does not have $1 trillion sitting in cash, it is 99% stock in his companies.
To make that wealth liquid would mean selling all that stock which would swiftly destroy *both* the companies (Tesla, SpaceX, others) and the wealth. If he sold it all, he'd end up with maybe $100b max, several hundred thousand people would be out of work, the companies ruined and many of their suppliers also ruined.
Okay, but now Elon has $100b in cash, and can "solve the world's problems".
$100b divided by the world's 8 billion people is $12
If you were in charge, several of the most innovative industrial companies in the world would be destroyed, hundreds of thousands out of work, and space would again close to human civilization for another generation.
But everyone on earth could have one nice meal and you could revel in your altruism.
I'm getting feedback from some Seniors, saying that only young people should have to pay property taxes because it's the young people that have children in the public schools.
That because Seniors don't make use of the public schools, they shouldn't have to help pay for them.
Okay, sure -- I can appreciate this logic.
So now, let's readjust everyon'e healthcare insurance costs.
Younger people barely need medical assistance at all -- so we can go ahead and adjust their rates DOWN.
Older people, however, quite often need medical assistance -- so we can do ahead and adjust their rates UP -- by right around 60%, according to the best estimates.
Afterall, we wouldn't want younger people subsidizing something that they don't personally use, right?
I think we should consider a Youth Tax as an effective alternative to a Wealth Tax. The Youngs could directly transfer a portion of their income to the Olds, or perhaps have this money sent directly to Princess or Viking cruise lines, which could offer our seniors free vouchers. Others propose that what could really motivate young people is national conscription—not into the military—but as ball boys and girls at local pickle ball courts.
If legislators always vote with the President, we have a king.
If legislators always vote with the prevailing wind, we have mob rule.
If legislators always vote with the Constitution, we have a Republic.
Notice how every post about the KY-04 race is either pro-Massie or anti-Massie?
No one is pro-Gallrein. That should tell you everything you need to know.
An editor on Facebook once complained that she was sent a 1,000,000 word novel. I replied "If the labor theory of value was real, you'd publish it and he'd make a pile of money" and a lot of communist authors got really mad at me
Spirit Airlines didn't need a "federal bailout." It needed the Biden DoJ to allow its merger with JetBlue
But the Biden DoJ, like most dopes on TV, thought: mergers mean bigger and bigger means bad
Because they know the optimal size an airline should be
