I finally got around to writing my thoughts on safety for the cycle event that has left me so badly disabled. Hopefully, other riders won't suffer quite such a catastrophic injury.

It’s more than 10 months since I crashed my bike in Spain. So guess what turned up last night? Yep, my daily-disposable contact lens. I had wondered how a bang on the head had improved my short sight.

The nurses are trying to teach me some genuine Glaswegian/Weegie words. First word is “scratcher” meaning “bed”. However, the inter-web tells me this is rhyming slang – “scratch my head/bed”. Weegie or Cockney after all?

Drug-induced sleep is weird. Whilst aware of my surroundings and the presence of my nurse, dreamt that my long-dead mother was at my bedside with a tray of coffees and had balanced two on a pillow. No wonder my nurse was confused when I asked him to move the coffees #Bonkers

@EvanHD ..and I wonder whether governments really are always best at the allocation task. The economics of spending on reducing re-offending are a no-brainer. However, UK voters seem willing to ‘pay’ to lock up offenders. Bring on the philanthropist’s £1.

@EvanHD Though tongue-in-cheek, I think you were a bit hard on philanthropists. The points about re-directing tax revenue seems fair but the narrative that donors are somehow tax dodgers is how George Osborne completely misplayed this when the (first) issue was raised years ago..
