@raysrugby@AJ_Journo Sets a really bad precedent for eligibility, if moving to a country over the age of 18 it should be very very strict on the 5 year residency requirement or at least if broken then add 2 years. Feel bad for Spain considering they were kicked out the RWC for similar.
@j4ytsables Agreed it looks worrying. Glad that the qualification players got a shot at this level but there are a few that aren’t cut out for Test level or at least don’t have the environment to be able to improve e.g. not playing pro level week in week out.
@ReggieKastigu@HipposFans@AdamTheofilatos@IntegrityNcube@pasinaDambudzo You’re right about the Vic cup as it’s a shame to not hear much about it. Would have been great for a few matches to be played in Zim.
Kyros sports confirmed that something is in the works for the Grid Cup. I imagine they would both want to show commitment and impress.
@T2Rugby@RugbyinGermany The main argument against has always been that the clubs don’t want to be filled with Wales and Scottish players and preventing spots for English eligible players which makes sense, but stopping the few players representing tier2 nations is pointless on the grand scheme of things
@T2Rugby@RugbyinGermany Such a shame, the Champ really could be “The Proving Ground” just by allowing those players who have done their time as EQP to be able to play for tier 2 nations. A huge opportunity missed.
@pasinaDambudzo@j4ytsables A good thing for the Nations Cup is it’s allowed Piet to give the chance to the players who got us qualified and to strengthen for depth ahead of the WC.
@MweneWeManhika@j4ytsables@T2Rugby@HipposFans@ReggieKastigu Manyarara will be different, once he gets his JIFF status for France in October then it won’t affect him whether he joins the Sables. For LC he would lose his EQP status and English teams only have a small number of non English qualified players so the competition becomes harder.
@j4ytsables@HipposFans@RugbyRwanda@ReggieKastigu@Scrummageafrica@isa_metrics Agreed, ideally need to bring in a 8 team league for Feb-May.
3 Harare teams: OH, HSC & OG’s
2 Bulawayo: OM, M Warriors
Mutare team
Gweru/Kweke team
Masvingo team.
Best way to develop talent and high performance. Then Grid Cup in September/October.
@T2Rugby Zimbabwe has Tinotenda Mavesere - flanker at Sharks. Darrien Landsberg - lock at Lions. Neither have played a game yet.
Also Dave Ewers at Exeter and Angus Curtis at Ulster, other than that all looks good.
