Have you seen what the Tolkien estate and his kids have put Peter Jackson through? I LOVE the LOTR trilogy and that’s the point I’m making. The films can be great art in and of themselves if the audience can separate the author and directors visions as separate entities. You’re right, I can’t presume to know what CS Lewis would say …but I have an idea.
I generally agree with this and studios will bastardize imax like they did 3D and release inferior gimmicky films. Spidey will be the great equalizer as far as every screen being in play 🙌🏽 and Avengers will do the same. Marvel = Fast food franchise, Auteur-driven IMAX 70mm = boutique & elevated, we need both for the industry to really thrive.
@jbillinson As it races to 2Billion 😅… the tech will keep improving but I do think some films don’t need the “shot for IMAX” treatment, if it’s not shot on 65mm keep it in regular PLFs and let the big boys keep their screen for 3 month runs since there are so few of these screens.
@wyattyhalpert It’s become underrated mostly due to I think the surge Interstellar has made of late…but it’s still top tier Nolan for me and firmly in my top 5.
Tired of weeks of discourse on if Nolan's Odyssey is a faithful to Homer, what it says about war and guilt, if Odysseus is unambigously heroic, how should classicists judge it?
Well, rest easy. Now comes weeks of discourse on if the new Spider-Man creates hype for Doomsday.
@rossi453661@DiscussingFilm Yeah but that’s pretty old school, nowadays the composer usually collaborates from the script stage but I know Matt and Mike have a close friendship and collaboration and it’s delayed to 2028 now so I guess a whole year and a half will suffice 😅
@AlannaBennett Exactly, a translation necessitates an almost slavish devotion to its source material where a FILM adaptation almost dare to ignore it…a la Space Odyssey
