Hi Ms Nawaz,

🚨 ALERT | BURUNDI
Benjamin “Ben” Babunga Watuna, a Congolese humanitarian development professional and respected writer on the political and security dynamics of the Great Lakes region, was reportedly arrested while visiting Burundi and is now being held by Burundi’s National Intelligence Service (SNR) in Bujumbura. Reports suggest his detention may be linked to pressure from Congolese authorities and to his published work.
Ben must not become a victim of political bargaining, cross-border pressure, or retaliation for his peaceful expression.
We call on the Burundian authorities to immediately disclose his legal status, guarantee access to due process, and ensure his safety and fundamental rights are fully protected.
We urge governments, international organizations, human rights defenders, journalists, and civil society across Africa and beyond to raise their voices and demand accountability.
Silence enables abuse. Attention saves lives.
Join us in calling for transparency, justice, and respect for the rule of law.

Daughter of Reza Pahlavi, Noor Pahlavi:
We are not fighting for a throne. We are fighting for freedom for a people who have been denied it for 47 years.
I have never set foot in my country. I have never walked its streets, touched its soil…
Today, I pressed @SecRubio on whether the Venezuela model can be replicated in Cuba.
His answer was clear: the United States will not allow the Castro regime to benefit from American resources, and Cuba's future cannot be built on the same system that has oppressed the Cuban people for nearly seven decades.
In Miami, we've known this for decades: there can be no democratic future for Cuba that leaves the Castro family in power. The Cuban people deserve freedom, democracy, and the opportunity to choose their own future. 🇨🇺🇺🇸
SECRETARY RUBIO: "One of the things you'll find pretty consistently in every totalitarian system is that they want to control the ability of their citizens to communicate with one another."
Broadening U.S. sanctions to go after the Cuban regime’s business partners is essential to increasing pressure on Havana and bringing long overdue political and economic change. We outline 6 specific steps to escalate that pressure @FDD@maxmeizlish https://t.co/crYhc0Z3bd
