At @LBDAgov , our sunflower project is demonstrating how best agricultural practices, value addition and farmer support can unlock a commercially viable value chain.

We plan to scale to 20,000 acres through contracting and supporting farmers across the Lake Region, integrating production, aggregation, processing and edible oil production.

The goal: higher farmer incomes, jobs, local value addition and reduced reliance on imported edible oils.

We participated in a comprehensive three day workshop on Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights and Gender Equality in the workplace. Organized under the DFPA SRH+GE project in collaboration with @FKEKenya, the workshop brought together peer champions from Kibos Sugar Company, Muhoroni Sugar Company, Chemelil Sugar Company, @KIWASCO and @LBDAgov.

The training aimed to deepen understanding of SRHR and GE concepts,exploring the importance of engaging both women and men in advancing these principles and establishing mechanisms to integrate SRHR and GE into workplace policies and practices.

Discussions highlighted the importance of embedding SRHR within workplace policies, fostering inclusivity and equity for all employees and upholding confidentiality in all SRHR related services.

Participants had the opportunity to share personal experiences of SRHR violations at work,exchanging insights on best practices for safeguarding reproductive rights and promoting gender equality.

The workshop concluded with actionable commitments from participants to champion SRHR and Gender Equality in their respective organizations. By integrating the lessons learned into workplace policies, the participants aim to foster safer, more inclusive, and equitable work environments. The collaborative approach demonstrated during the workshop underscored the collective responsibility in advancing these crucial principles, ensuring that no employee is left behind.

H.E President @WilliamsRuto today officially Commissioned the Lake Basin Development Authority Rice Mill.

The New Mill has a milling capacity of 4 tons per hour (28,000 metric tons per year).

H.E the President's commissioning of the mill is a significant step forward in enhancing the Agricultural sector by providing ready market for the Rice farmers in Ahero, Budalangi, Migori and Homabay.

LBDA MD @WycliffeOchiaga today oversaw the test-run of the newly installed State-of-the-art rice mill machine with a production capacity of four tons per hour.

CS @peninah_malonza is currently commissioning and Handing over St. Peter's Kogola Schools and Community Water Project in Nyakach Constituency. The project implemented by LBDA will benefit 6,000 household and school going population.
