@CHHoulbrook Me. Also taught myself Greek, got A* at Latin A level, A at Greek and read Classics at Trinity College Cambridge. All thanks to Gwendy Roe.
@TraceyR01105416 @toryboypierce @LBC It does hurt people, that’s the point. Both my sister and I have been vaccinated so where is the risk in my sitting next to her to comfort her at her husband’s funeral next week? If the risk is anything other than remote then there is no point in the vaccination.
@davidflatman You can use either. Both are correct. Stadia would be the Greek plural (same as Latin). But generally it’s better to use the English plural because it’s now an English word and we’re speaking English.
@JMPSimor@michaelgove@BorisJohnson Yes but they won’t cover it because it’s too difficult for their superficial and lazy minds. They’re much more comfortable discussing bike rides. The MSM has played a shocker these last 12 months.
@v_j_freeman I very much wanted to be made better by the NHS than die at home. Definitely the right choice. I don’t know whether everyone on my ward survived (fingers crossed) but I can definitely tell you that nobody not even the illest was begging to be sent home to die with their family.
@thequentinletts@ClassicFM@realaled is a delight. It’s Sunday morning. Have another mug of tea, another 30 minutes of kip and reset your morning. @ClassicFM has kept me sane through some very difficult nights recently. Take out your bad mood on something else. If you don’t like the ads go to Radio 3.
@SkewSpew My mother who grew up in 1930s working class Sheffield never to her dying day got out of her system the shame and stigma of her childhood poverty. Sounds as though Darren Grimes never really got the memo
@tracey_thorn@legsidelizzy For the avoidance of doubt I can confirm that Covid 19 is beyond scary. From assuming I’m immortal (even though I’m 63) to seriously considering the possibility of dying in about 90 minutes.
@iainmartin1 Exactly. I’d like to see those people clamouring for it to put their money where their mouth is and volunteer to do a few 3am shifts. Instead of always leaving it to the Poor Bloody Infantry. Including the usual suspects in the media.
@doctor_oxford I got out yesterday (63 years). The total dedication and skill of every member of the teams was truly awe inspiring. The level of stress off the charts. I shall take the memories to my dying day. We were all 60 plus. Quietly agreed if things got worse, intervention justified
@doctor_oxford I’ve got nothing for the Government here but in many ways the true culprits are the media, superficial, personality driven, not understanding and driven mad by anything approaching complexity refusing to engage with the issues, completely ignorant of the global context
