It’s clearer than ever that decades of becoming little more than performative rubber stamps for EU laws has infantilised a whole generation of politicians, mostly on the Left.
They are desperate to rejoin the EU but when challenged cannot articulate any rational, intellectually coherent or fact-based justification for doing so, but can only trot out meaningless soundbites about the “single market” without understanding what rejoining entails.
They rely on fake or already debunked data or ignore the reality of what being in the EU requires us to surrender - for no worthwhile gain.
Something to bear in mind, when people talk about EU membership helping to prevent small boats.
Every small boat migrant, 100% of them, got *into* the EU first. They had to, to come out the other side.
If the EU controlled its borders, the small boats wouldn't exist.
FYI, the IMF expects "Brexit Britain" to be the fastest or joint fastest growing major (G7) economy in Europe in both 2026 and 2027, as she was in 2025, but still well behind the US 👇
(And some people would have us align even more closely with the EU... 🤷♂️)
Bit tricky for Burnham and the Rejoin spinners as the IMF publishes their growth for 2027:
Brexit ‘catastrophe’ damaged the UK, right?
After ten years, we are in much worse straits than the EU?
Ah-no.
BUT,says Andy, we’ll pay the EU to run us again &we’ll be BILLIONS better off!
Absolutely right of @KemiBadenoch to demand answers. With defence decisions delayed, energy bills soaring and the public finances in deep trouble, why on earth is the Prime Minister reopening Brexit?
Rejoining the EU would mean paying more, accepting worse terms and handing back control over our own affairs. It would solve none of the problems we face.
Andy Burnham and the Labour Government need to stop fighting yesterday's battles and start making the difficult decisions Britain desperately needs today.
“We have answers to today’s problems. They are living in the past.”
Absolutely brilliant performance from Kemi Badenoch, who is scrutinising this failing Andy Burnham government.
Labour are not fit for office, they’re totally out of their depth.
Left: German Nazis executing a Jewish woman with her child in Ivanhorod, 1942.
Right: Palestinian Nazis executing a Jewish woman in Kibbutz Alumim, October 7, 2023.
“Never Again” is now.
Andrew Neil is spot on and it shows how weak Andy Burnham is.
This kind of delay only helps our enemies, it gives the wrong message. Labour are putting the country at risk by not investing in the defence of this country.
This is unforgivable.
A must watch👇🏼 The Tories are under new leadership, with bold new policies and a new vision for the future.
If the Tories win the next election, it will mean hundreds of new Tory MPs, all signed up to deliver Kemi’s vision, including tax cuts, growth, and leaving the ECHR.
Imagine if, on the anniversary of Hiroshima, Americans marched past Japanese communities waving American flags and denouncing Japan. Or if Britain chose the anniversary of Dresden to stage victory marches through London. We don’t. Those dates are treated with sensitivity because whatever your view of the wider war, the anniversary of mass civilian death is not the day to celebrate.
Yet on 7 October — the anniversary of the worst massacre of Jews since the Holocaust — demonstrators have deliberately chosen to march through London for the Palestinian cause.
They do it, simply, because they are utterly repugnant human beings
@wesstreeting Wes stop misleading the public. You know i said “that both Labour and Conservatives hollowed out defence for 30 years.” Your constant editing of the quote while imposing real term cuts to todays RDEL exposes that fact that this Labour defence team are fundamentally dishonest with the our nation’s defence. The “tucking under” of 0.4% of GDP and pretending to the media it is also “defence spending” shows that you are part of a government that puts benefits above our nations security.
