AI proponents argue “We’re so busy debating whether AI will destroy humanity that we don’t ask how we might use it to deliver services.”
But if it destroys humanity, why does better service delivery matter at all? Duh.
Altman, the head of Open AI, said AI benefits outweigh its potential risks. He said that means “the world should accept some bad things happening for the benefits of this technology”.
And there’s what we’re actually dealing with.
Growth economics are simple. Higher deficits, tax cuts for the wealthy, & printing more money beyond the economy’s inherent growth capacity will lead to higher prices, higher interest rates, & an affordability dilemma.
That’s where we are & it’s undisputed.
The oligarchs, the rapists, the pedophiles, the Nazis, the enemies of democracy, the enemies of humanity. So many packed into one horrifying image. If future generations ever ask what happened, how everything got destroyed and there’s nothing left for them, show them this photo.
Dark money Super PACs exist so billionaires and corporations can anonymously bribe the politicians who regulate and investigate them.
It’s not “free speech” — it’s bribery made legal by the people who write the laws.
Trump welcomes China’s repressive dictator to the ‘People’s House’ while shutting its doors to the American free press. The same Trump who’s waging economic war against the prime minister of Canada invites the president of Russia to visit his Florida golf club.
‘Affordability’ is a breeding ground for economically illiterate policies. Politicians promise price relief just to go undelivered b/c their promises are totally unworkable. Finally, no mention is ever made about the unsustainabity of the national debt.
I’m not defending runaway inflation in modern times. But it was a wild & brutal economic ride from 1800 to 1940 as deep deflationary busts evened out the immense inflationary booms. The ‘average’ 0.2% per year statistic is highly misleading b/c it hides huge annual volatility.
Crazy but true stat of the day:
From 1800 to 1940 the annual inflation rate was just 0.2% per year
Prices were just 28% higher in a 140 year time frame
Since 1940 it's 3.7% annually or >2,200% in total

A gallon of regular is $4.48 compared with $3.20 a year back, inflation is running at 5 percent on a forward-looking basis, and the 30-year mortgage interest rate is back to 7 percent. https://t.co/HATRBGcqfE
A commodity in one location trades around the same price in another location. Any price difference is arbitraged away. That mechanism depends on the ability to move goods freely across borders. But tariffs, conflicts, & calls for national security now prevent that free movement.
The Trump agenda is starting to fall apart. Inflation, foreign relations, tariffs, Constitutional protections, & outright incompetence have the majority of Americans fed up & disgusted.
Susan Collins, for example, is not delivering to Maine but delivering Maine to Trump.
