After a great start to the season, forcing cuts at English National Opera feels like another insensitive and misinformed misfire by @ace_national. Sending my colleagues @E_N_O love and strength as they fight for their livelihoods once more.
Members at English National Opera have learned that the company plans to axe 19 posts & employ the remaining musicians on part time contracts
The union plans to reject the proposals & fight to keep our members at @E_N_O in full time jobs, on full time pay https://t.co/v1HhKyZtpi
If you are near the London Coliseum this evening, you could do worse than get a ticket to see one of the future stars of British opera give his debut performance in one of the pivotal roles of British opera.

Some friends and colleagues share some words about why they believe we should aspire to live in a country that supports the arts. Please watch this vid: https://t.co/9UFbPUE29H and if you can, do donate to: https://t.co/vXbGpdYIeK @spconnolly @LeedsLieder
Yes, the Coronation music was wonderful. Conservatives have cut arts funding by a third in the last decade. Government cuts to the BBC mean they’re losing 20% of orchestra places. Music teaching in state schools is in freefall.
Who’s going to play at the next one?
If anybody still hasn't signed... the @BBCSingers petition needs 96 more names to reach the magic 150,000 mark. It will be officially delivered early next week. The immediate danger has been averted but there is a long road ahead.
