It's fascinating to hear Dr. Faucci's Senate testimony. I guess his legal counsel understands that an autopen pardon has no impact on State level charges.
Yesterday afternoon I was telling a colleague in St. Petersburg Russia how different America 250 is for me than the Bicentennial.
I had just graduated from Arizona State University, and Gerald Ford was in the White House serving out the rest of Richard Nixon’s term. Inflation was coming on strong and looking more dangerous with each passing day. The SCOTUS was dealing with the aftermath of decisions in Roe v. Wade and the Watergate cases, and I had just moved to South Bend with plans to start law school at Notre Dame in the fall.
My life was one part exciting and three parts terrifying.
I had no earthly idea how epic and awesome the next 50 years would be. If I’d had it my way, I would have short-changed myself.
It might be worthwhile for other boomers to pause for a minute, think about the life they expected in 1976, and compare their expectations to the wondrous reality of the life they have now.
I know that President Trump’s promise of a Golden Age is possible if we all go to work and make it happen.
Anthony Fauci may be the beneficiary of an autopen pardon from Federal charges, but I don't think a Federal autopen can impact State level charges for unlawful killings of human beings. Are there no State AGs who are willing to enforce their laws?
@BarronTNews_ Wealth taxes are impossible without a Constitutional Amendment. Article I, §2, Cl. 3 says:
“Representatives and direct taxes shall be apportioned among the several States which may be included within this Union, according to their respective Numbers.”
There is no back door.
I don't know why Putin is upset about Zelensky's use of US-made ATACMS against targets in Russia. I'm sure JFK would have stayed sanguine if Castro used Russian-made ATACMS against targets in suburban Miami.
I strongly recommend "The Revolt of the Public," by Martin Gurri. His thesis is that the internet and social media will be as toxic to the MSM as the printing press was to the Catholic Church's control over information flows. I was part way through be book when his thesis was proven with shocking clarity by the Trump landslide. The MSM is headed for the bone-yard in the wake of credible independent news sources like X, Rogan and Carlson. Viva la revolution!
My first suggestion to the new administration is to eliminate the individual tax credits for solar panels and related energy storage systems. Historically tax credits were only available for business activities-- activities that were expected to increase future taxable income. Solar panels and batteries reduce a homeowner's energy costs, but they never generate a penny in taxable income. In other words, tax credits for items that will never create taxable income are an abomination. They tax Peter to buy Paul's new toys.
Today feels like the day after Reagan won the 1980 presidential election. For the first time in ages I think my children and grandchildren may be blessed with the can-do country I grew up in.
JD Vance has a chance to be the most actively involved and influential VP in history because Trump knows how to groom and train subordinates for higher positions.
Tariffs are NEVER inflationary because they are ALWAYS avoidable by a US consumer.
If there are tariffs on foreign-made cars, a US consumer can avoid the tariff by purchasing a US-made car.
There is, quite simply, no such thing as a tariff on a foreign-made product that can’t be avoided by a US consumer who is willing to make an alternative product purchase choice.
VP Harris' plan to tax unrealized capital gains is DOA.
Taxes on real and personal property are "direct taxes," and prohibited by Article I, §2, Cl. 3, of the Constitution, unless they are apportioned among the States on the basis of population.
The 16th Amendment gave Congress the power to tax "incomes, from whatever source derived ..." to avoid the apportionment requirement with respect to income and allow the taxation of capital gains.
Since Congress can't tax real and personal property without apportionment, and it can't tax income from real and personal property until the income is derived, or separated from its source, any plan to tax unrealized gains is absolutely unconstitutional.
