Birmingham must not be a stage for Eritrean regime propaganda. This brutal dictatorship silences dissent, tortures citizens & exiles truth. Hosting their events here betrays refugees & human rights. Ban the event. Stand with the people not the oppressors. #StopEritreanPropaganda
The Horn of Africa stands at a crossroads – Isaias Afwerki is playing a dangerous game that could destroy the future of both Eritrea and Tigray.
Isaias Afwerki has entered so-called “freedom agreements” with Tigray, but behind the facade lies a cynical game. He is deceiving both the Eritrean and Tigrayan peoples to secure his own power and create division in the region. Ordinary people are paying the price.
At the same time, actors like Higdef continue the same game they have played for over 30 years – day after day, year after year. When he begins to “tap,” it’s about exploiting situations for personal gain and maintaining the regime’s grip on power, regardless of the suffering of the people.
This threatens not only the stability of Eritrea and Tigray but the entire Horn of Africa. The so-called “Blue Revolution” could mark a new chapter in the region’s geopolitics – but it requires vigilance.
We cannot remain silent. Silence contributes to oppression. The international community must demand:
•An open and independent investigation into Eritrea’s role in the Tigray conflict
•Exposure and halting of manipulative agreements that divide the people
•Support for the victims of war and human rights abuses
•Accountability for actors like Higdef who systematically uphold the regime’s power
It is time to rise up, expose the truth, and demand that those in power are held accountable – the future of the Horn of Africa depends on it.

Stop Eritrean Regime Propaganda in the UK – Say No to Tyranny on British Soil
On May 24, the Eritrean regime is once again preparing to stage a so-called “Independence Day” celebration – this time in London. But this is not a cultural event. It is a political propaganda show organized by one of the most repressive regimes in the world.
Eritrea is not a free country. It is a dictatorship led by Isaias Afwerki, a ruler who has never held an election, who jails dissidents without trial, and who runs a system where thousands are trapped in forced military conscription, which human rights organizations have likened to modern-day slavery. There is no free press, no civil society, and tens of thousands of Eritreans have fled the country seeking freedom and dignity.
It is outrageous that this regime is allowed to organize events on British soil to whitewash its crimes and intimidate the diaspora. These so-called celebrations are not inclusive; they serve the ruling party and its loyalists. Survivors of torture, former prisoners, and exiled human rights activists are deeply hurt and retraumatized by the presence of regime-linked events in the UK.
We call on the British government, local authorities, and civil society to act:
•Deny permits and public space for events organized by or linked to the Eritrean regime.
•Investigate the use of UK venues for foreign state propaganda.
•Stand with Eritrean victims and survivors of dictatorship, not with the perpetrators.
Freedom should not be for sale. The UK must not enable tyranny.
