@BickerinBrattle I think this is sustainable George. Nobody takes him seriously by now and most everyone is tired of him so we're all ignoring him. The scare of the past has moved on. Imo you were right on your framework but got sizing terribly wrong.
@ylecun@alexgrenier@Dan_Jeffries1 Well, maybe most physically observable curves are just sigmoids and we only live long enough to experience their first part
@Dr_Gingerballs 1) Install the excel plugin of Claude and build a valuation model of your favorite company. Same for the PowerPoint plugin to build a deck.
2) install OpenCode and use Qwen 3.6 to build an API
3) use ChatGPT as a personal doctor
I've gained real value from all 3 so far.
@dampedspring Thanks for your piece Andy, amazingly interesting as always. You might want to read Mike Green's today's peace as well. Cannot help but draw similarities by the two but maybe I'm making things up. @dampedspring
@PtrPomorski Agree completely about econometrics, my statistics programme was having it in mandatory courses and didn't know why until I completed the course. It's THE prerequisite.
@Dr_Gingerballs My disagreement is on the basis of abstractive thinking/systems thinking. I would argue that pretty much "all" important subsystem structures have been invented and the trick is in integrating w one another. LLMs write the subsystems, humans do architecture. Looks useful to me.
@AgustinLebron3@McReynoldsJoe Yeah it's too big to innovate, only startups can realistically do it imo. Hey, thanks for engaging sir, you make my day every time ❤️
@AgustinLebron3@McReynoldsJoe I know I know, same here. Ex McK and I have also been attending our hiring panels. What a mess. Can't wait to have it disrupted.
@McReynoldsJoe@AgustinLebron3 Right now it looks like they're applying a filter to select their own. I don't think this will evolve well. Also the size doesn't prove much, maybe they have one big strategy that delivers everything or many smaller but similar in thinking.
