The more cars that drive for uber, the more they can raise their pricing (this NYE is a good example). Thankfully, others compete a bit

Comparable apps were 1/3 the cost for NYE, it’s not for lack of supply, or risk, it’s just gouging, which is what it is. There is no lack of TC plates here in NYC

The point is the surcharges are not “to ensure supply”, it’s simply price gouging for profit, which is free markets, but call a spade a spade

I want what’s best for the man/woman next to me, and no one should be punished for enjoying themselves, nor put in a compromised position due to lack of options . Public transport is compromised

Many susceptible folks are forced into a tough position under these surcharges. I’m fortunate to be able to take care of myself late night, but many are not

Anyone who lives in Manhattan for ex. knows that’s not the reality. There’s always supply, 24/7, the roads are perpetually full with TC plates. Especially in pop. areas

I myself was out on NYE in NYC (soho/WV). 15 minute ride home was $90-120 on uber, so I checked/ordered a car (not taxi) through Curb for $36- Uber simply taking advantage of drunks.
