When directing the Marvel Studios logo I got to pour over archives of their work. Jaw-dropping.
@Dougasaurus & I made the conscious decision of including signatures in early tests as a tribute to artists we revered.
One of my favorite artifacts from designing Wakandan tech for Black Panther.
I loved this layout & color scheme, so I made a cyan alternate just so I could say "this is what any other movie would do".
Sometimes 'proof-of-non-concept' is very persuasive tool.
@laurieesc Working on Marvel films there wasn’t much interaction with their (amazing) concept art team, except for when making the Marvel Studios logo itself.
They cover the broad strokes of general aesthetics, and others (like us) focused on granular details.
