@hantsconnect I belueve that having a directly elected mayor is a bad idea.
They pander to populism to ensure re-election, at the expense if doing what the evidence proves they should do.
@APPGCW
@CycleAlton
This incident undoubtedly involved an illegal e-bike.
Yet the BBC continues to obfuscate the legal use, and benefit of legal electric pedal-assist bikes.
Police need to tackle illegal electric bike scourge, now.

@APPGCW The media must take some responsibility for the concerns about e-bikes. There are those which are legal to use on public roads, and those that are not.
Legal electric pedal-assist bikes are not the ones causing fires, when used correctly. Illegal e-bike fires are the danger.
@transportgovuk We all know what's needed, and it was spelt out quite clearly by a previous Labour Government, when it published its Transport White Paper, entitled "A New Deal for Transport: Better for Everyone" on 21 July 1998.
Make it easier to walk/cycle, and harder to use a car - simple!
East Hampshire District Council have removed bottle banks in their district.
Residents can have their glass collected from the kerbside instead, by placing them in a box.
Anyone ordering a box has to wait 10 weeks . . . Hardly joined up thinking.
Labour’s Transport Secretary Louise Haigh has vowed to “take back streets” for cyclists, pedestrians, and drivers, after accusing the previous Conservative administration of pursuing “poisonous culture wars against road users of all descriptions”. https://t.co/9mU8A38TRi
@g_gosden The very name ENGLAND, as I understand it, roughly translates to 'the land of the Angles'.
The Angles were mainly Germanic, just one of the many tribes who invaded & settled in the country.
Many waves of continental 'visitors' have made modern England, & long may it continue.
Britain's Buses at their Best.
Several examples of great bus services in parts of England, just a pity that Stagecoach South & Hampshire County Council, are failing to provide reliable bus services in the South, unlike Morebus around Bournemouth. https://t.co/gbx44lMBri
Thankfully, the vast majority of motorists in #Alton, #Hampshire are very considerate when passing cyclist.
They will often give way, to allow #cyclists to turn safely, which helps.
So thank you #Alton drivers for making our roads safe to #cycle.
Far too many motorists still offending.
Crown Hill, #Alton is a perfect spot to see if drivers are using their phones, or not wearing seat belts.
One officer observing, others directing offenders to safe area for processing.
Good afternoon!
PS Jamie Dobson and PC Hazel Beaden were part of a team targeting Fatal Four offences on the M3 yesterday (17/7)
Remember to drive safely, we regularly run operations like this across major routes to keep our roads safe

@LouHaigh Secretary of State for Transport. Whichever model #Labour chooses, safe, segregated @cycle routes, must be included from the start, 'Dutch-style'.

Many of us witness dangerous driving behaviour in #Hampshire.
Here's how you can report incidents to Hampshire's Police:-

A friend has had his e-bike stolen from outside St. Lawrence Church, #Alton.
Despite being secured to one of the 'Sheffield-style' cycle racks, situated near the entrance to the church, thieves cut through the lock.
