@JEBistline This was illustrated (illuminated ;-)) to me during the BBC adaption of Hilary Mantel's Wolf Hall.
And viewers complained the sets were too gloomy.
@fitzr1189 It was fitted to the new build house before we bought it, a requirement of planning permission in 2014. I didn't mind, because I like the efficiency but it's a shame it doesn't save money too.
@fitzr1189@newhandlehun Yes, but solar in the UK would only work well in summer and only for perhaps 4-8 hours.
And heat pumps are needed more in winter when it is cold and sun isn't really strong enough in the UK for solar to work much in winter.
@fitzr1189@newhandlehun Butting in here, as I follow you both and I have a heat pump. It is thermodynamically efficient, warms our 10-year old, well insulated UK house well results in reduced fossil fuel usage.
But electricity is 4x gas prices in the UK, so it isn't saving any £££.
Man’s girlfriend is very annoyed that the free press she champions, despite having emigrated to a dictatorship without one, is investigating her boyfriend for stuff she says people who aren’t her boyfriend, like Angela Rayner, should resign over.
