Islam merged religious piety with political and military discipline. Prayer was designed to build collective identity and cohesion, much like a standing army.

The insistence on praying visibly and collectively in public is driven by optics and ideology.

They assert territorial presence: Just like flying a flag or erecting a monument, mass prayer in public marks the space: “We are here, and we are many"

Repetition normalizes. What shocks today becomes mundane tomorrow. What feels imposing today becomes protected ritual tomorrow.

In military terms, this is training. It’s discipline. It’s unity. And when performed in public, it communicates:

“We are not just individuals praying. We are a unit. We are organized. And we are advancing.”

No other religion makes this kind of repetitive, synchronized public performance a pillar of faith.

Look how deeply Islam inserts itself into every detail of public life.

In most countries, daylight saving time is a matter of calendar coordination and practical governance. But in Lebanon, Islam turned the clock into a battlefield.

Two years ago, as Ramadan approached, Lebanon’s Muslim-led government made a decision: they postponed the daylight saving time change until after the holy month.

Why? Because by keeping the clocks back an hour, Muslims would effectively fast one hour less each day.

Lebanon’s Christian community, refused to follow the new order. Institutions, businesses, and media outlets in Christian areas adopted daylight saving time anyway.

You could literally stand between two people, each living in a different time zone. Meetings, flights, public services, all were thrown into confusion.

Lebanon, a country smaller than many U.S. cities, was now running on two separate clocks, one Christian, one Muslim.

This was about forcing the entire country to bend to one religious group’s internal ritual, regardless of national coherence, scientific timing, or administrative logic.

Islam is not content with private piety. It must legislate, dominate, and dictate, even the sunrise and sunset.

It does not politely coexist, it reconfigures the public square to match religious imperatives, even if the outcome is dysfunction, division, or ridicule.

Lebanon is a glimpse of the future if the West refuses to see the ideological nature of Islam.

I understand that for those who hold a low view of Western democratic values, or have no grasp of the threat Islam poses to them, it’s hard to understand why someone would spend 10 hours a day fighting for their future without getting paid.

That said, I also believe that those who serve the gospel should live from the gospel, and I do aim to eventually be supported through the work I do.
