Thread. The 10 best novels I've read (note - there are plenty of great novels I haven't yet read. Thank God - otherwise the rest of my life would be extremely bleak). Note - I avoid repeating authors in the list, although I do count series as a single work.

@KaiserW1914_II (Ex) Lutheran churches, Kaiserhaus, Eastern Settlement headquarters, Hindenburg birthplace, Prussian fortifications … Very nice!

[John Siegmund @JohnSiegmund]

@KaiserW1914_II My grandfather was born in Margonin (Posen Province), so I’d like to see that, but the only place I’ve gotten to so far is Posen city. I brought a book with Wilhelmine era postcards of the cities and visited those sites.

@ctsbulls It’s that kind of thinking which has made the Marlins such an overwhelming fan favorite in South Florida.

@smilebehappyOO1 I had it this summer. Took 3 months to go away. Did nothing but avoid certain shoes and walking barefoot.

@PatrickSvitek Renacci has been bitter ever since his failure of a Senate race. Thinks GOP should have funded him while he was drafted in because he was supposed to be able to self fund.

[John Siegmund @JohnSiegmund]

@Magister_Mondo @YahooSports Awful. But they beat IU on the road with Sayin playing terribly and without RB2, so there’s still hope for the season.

@eugyppius1 Honestly, I don’t understand the French riots and I don’t want to spend the time to try to understand them. What I’m interested in is if there still exists a distinctive Hanoverian (conservative) political tradition or whether it is gone, flattened.

@Carty1111 @VaticanReportIt Italian version of AP (press association).

[John Siegmund @JohnSiegmund]

@IterIntellectus When I moved to southern Italy in 1989 (I am old!), it was basically 100% ethnic Italians. Completely different when I go back now - multi ethnic, multi racial society.

@RattlerGator @gatorsszn Kind of difficult to grok that diatribe. Is he saying that Southwestern Louisiana has more history and an easier path to present day success than the Gators? I mean, I get that he’s a Louisiana homer and likes to pump up their directional schools, but that seems a stretch.

[John Siegmund @JohnSiegmund]

@RattlerGator It’s great to be able to look forward to waking up and watching the early morning replay of SEC Tonight.

[John Siegmund @JohnSiegmund]

@BecauseCulture Lived in Italy for many years. Its not awful, but much prefer the American healthcare system. If I had no money to pay the out of pocket costs, I’d probably prefer Italy.

[John Siegmund @JohnSiegmund]

@JacobsFieldRBW Should be rooting for Texas to take 2 of 3 and Houston to lose all 3 of their games, I think.

[John Siegmund @JohnSiegmund]

@SteveSkojec When I was 10, the Giants (not my fave team) traded Fran Tarkenton to the Vikings.

[John Siegmund @JohnSiegmund]

@CMReport My first thought is that the Chinese would never go along with a slowdown. My second thought is that it would certainly be in their interest to have American experts pushing for one.

[John Siegmund @JohnSiegmund]

@AndyStaples Worked for me. Got to root for Rod Woodson, Lomas Brown, and Ironhead Heyward.

[John Siegmund @JohnSiegmund]

@eugyppius1 Missed a chance to pivot to career as Milli Vanilli cover band lead.

[John Siegmund @JohnSiegmund]

@Heminator Lawrence Welk?

@eugyppius1 We once stayed at a friend’s apartment in Paris and were solemnly told not to flush the toilet after 9pm. I’m with you on morning showers. Up at 6am, very leisurely coffee. Workout, shower, roll into the office about 10:30am.
