@AzelfDaGirl I think its just a bit unfair to his legacy to simplify it to 'cracks down on free speech, trans people and immigrants' because, whilst those by far receive the most media attention it is almost always painteed in an unfair light to the PM and usually its massively overblown.
@AzelfDaGirl GDP is up a lot, inflation is down, Labour is renationalizing several industries, better and more effective digitalisation, waiting lists down a lot, borrowing costs decreasing, energy prices falling, house construction at a higher rate than the last tory government, much more
@electionsjoe He was term-limited in 2011 anyways, a more successful Mayor Newsom probably just wins the governorship in 2010 and ends up in the Senate in 2018, still very high-profile
@BobLMandeb@LucasDonnelly10@WokeAnnUpdates It’s not affordable though. States already have to tax income at around half the rate that the federal government does, and if the federal government could just spend less on defense they could easily achieve this. It’s less practical for states to increase taxes to fund it.
@BobLMandeb@LucasDonnelly10@WokeAnnUpdates Newsom supports single payer and HS2, he just doesn’t want single payer on a statewide scale and he has repeatedly called for. Progressive things like national single payer and national billionaire taxes.
Newsom is not anti-trans and it appears you’ve not been paying attention
@NYGovPres_67@marilynomics The bill was for public sector collective bargaining. Public sector unions shouldn’t even exist. Even FDR said this. It’s a dogshit bill that allows already ineffective Virginia public services to bargain for more taxpayer money.
