Canadians have importance, but Canada is a resource colony for the US - like it was for the UK before 1945. It is a US dependency which exchanges some local decision-making for having no representation in Washington.

This is a globally enviable position to be in. Its an excellent arrangement for Canadians.

But years of government propoganda - both through the captured media and through "Monorail Guy" politicians - has effectively brainwashed Canadians that it is in some way an equal partner.
