26-Feb-17: lovely day - away up the mountain side - got a good way up but the melting snow made it dangerous to proceed - got a good view & a parcel from home.

25-Feb-17: Dodged C Parade & not found out - fairly easy day

24-Feb-17: Good old clean up - washing day & bath - tres bon but dam cold

23-Feb-17: Alarm up before daylight & away over hills - I got fed up & sloped off home - rescued poor old Pa who fell in the river - very funny

22-Feb-17: Away up the Mtn with Mr B some stiff climb it took the Plat. 3 hours to get up with full packs - splendid view - see other end of pass & the town.

21-Feb-17: Rotten day on the road making stint to Oglby Castle. Some job moving rocks from the path & piling them up on the side to prevent people from going to sudden death.

20-Feb-17: Good old road making - not such a bad stunt only pretty heavy work - by gum too tired to stay up long

19-Feb-17: Poor Barlow buried on side of cliff a most impressive military funeral - the Lament on the pipes- shots over the grave & last post. A lonely grave miles from civilization

18-Feb-17: On road clearing again for the transport

17-Feb-17: Very stiff day of it digging up trees etc. that block the road - hard work but enjoyed it immensely. A very sad accident occurred - poor chap fell over the cliff & got smashed to pieces (Barlow) a nice if funny chap

16-Feb-17: Pretty busy all day getting little conveniences erected but I hear we are moving again - damn nuisance

15-Feb-17: Move again to more sheltered spot - in charge of 8 men who act as guard to the house - I am chief cook & Q.M. - jolly good rations & not spoiled. still cold at night but not quite so frozen.

14-Feb-17: Busy all day putting our bivies in order & erecting bivies on the slope - lovely sunny day but devilish cold all night. Our bivies not in a convenient spot - too drafty.

13-Feb-17: Sudden move away up to the white house right up the pass, climbing higher all the time - devilish cold the scenery magnificent.
