Looks like the JFK Jr. Timex 1995 Intrepid Reissue is available for pre-order.
This is a replica of the watch he wore in the ‘90s. The reissue model here originally released around this time last year and sold out immediately.
Clever for Timex to have this re-release planned with all the buzz from Love Story (great show by the way).
Watch has a massive 46mm case. Priced at $219.
New Proof x Danner MTN45 hiking shoe collab just dropped.
This is the latest brand campaign I’ve led and the first-ever shoe collaboration with Huckberry’s in-house brand, Proof.
It’s a badass shoe. One of Danner’s most advanced hiking shoes to date.
The colorway is called “Nacreous Clouds”, and named after the natural phenomenon where pearly iridescent clouds form in altitudes above 50,000 feet.
Link to the shoes below. Priced at $220.
Western Hydrodynamic Research and Native Shoes are dropping a shoe on Wednesday this week.
It’s called the Indigo Apollo 10.
There are only 120 pairs made, each one hand-dyed at the WHR studio in Costa Mesa.
It looks like some pairs have a light fade while others are painted a deep indigo via a thick brush.
All dyes and shoe materials are made using eco-friendly materials.
Check out the tagline of the collaboration. It’s an epic one:
"From The Edge Of Space, To The Bottom Of The Ocean"
A marlin flag that belonged to Hemingway went up for auction earlier this month.
It hung on his famous fishing boat, the Pilar, and was likely a catch flag that Hemingway flew atop of the mast to indicate when he landed a marlin.
The flag was almost lost to history if not for a man named Captain Bob Smith, who was a chair boy aboard the Pilar as a young man, a legendary Bimini guide, and a friend of Hemingway's.
The estimated sale price at auction was around $5,000-$8,000.
Someone bought it for $170,000.
New Ralph Lauren x MLB Collection just announced. Includes six teams: Dodgers, Cubs, Phillies, Red Sox, Blue Jays, and Yankees.
Can’t get enough of the embroidered NY Yankees chambray shirt and denim jacket.
Collection reported to launch March 2nd in Japan during World Baseball Classic. Then April 14th for global release.
If you ever think it’s too late to change course, look at Kris Kristofferson.
Quits a promising military career right on the cusp of 30.
Moves to Nashville to pursue music.
Work as a janitor at Columbia Records in order to get close to the music business, and get his songs into the hands of artists and producers.
Grinds it out for a few years and then Johnny Cash records his song “Sunday Mornin’ Coming Down”.
Becomes #1 on the charts.
And the rest is history.
A new “Blue Mussel” Canvas Outfitter Jacket from Filson just dropped.
Love that fade of blue paired with the brown corduroy collar.
Reminder this hunting-inspired jacket was released last year by Filson as an unlined option to their heavier outerwear.
Best part about the Canvas Outfitter is it’s $199. Solid price point.
Gumtree Golf just announced their Field Trip 002.
It's a 3-day golf trip travel package in Southern Utah. Tickets are $2,500.
According to Gumtree, that price includes:
- 3 rounds of golf at 3 separate courses
- A remote camp at the edge of Zion
- Private dinners
- Guided Zion hike by On Running
- Natural hot springs visit at night
- Pair of unreleased On Running trail runners
- Duffel bag with $1,000 worth of Gumtree Golf x On gear
Kinda reminds me of a press trip (that you pay for). I'd love to attend one of these.
A beautiful, 26mm white dial Marathon watch was found recently by a collector named Ryan George (ryngrg on IG).
It’s a manual wind “Antimagnetic”. Still runs.
Marathon should do a reissue on the model.
Watched a good Netflix doc the other night called “Breakdown: 1975”
It examines how American cinema shifted in the mid-70s, reflecting the chaotic and critical times of post-Watergate and Vietnam.
Had no idea how many banger films came out between 1974-76:
Jaws, One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest, Taxi Driver, Chinatown, Dog Day Afternoon.
Another cool note is Martin Scorcese and Oliver Stone are in the doc. Two of my favorite directors.
Remembering Robert Duvall by reading this Esquire interview published in 2011.
Here are my two favorite Duvall quotes from it:
“Sometimes working fast is better than waiting, waiting, waiting to get it right.”
“When I knew nothing, I thought I could do anything.”
A former SpaceX engineer named JC Foster just made an $80 plastic-free drip coffee maker.
It’s made in USA, and manufactured by his company, puresteel.
This feels genius to me.
I’m tired of the market telling us a good drip coffee maker should be $400+
Gentleman’s Journal doing the hard-hitting journalism we need.
They recently pubbed a story on the 5 best club sandwiches in the world.
Suvretta House in St Moritz is their number one.
FWIW, the best club sandwich in Austin, Texas is at New World Deli. Pictured last.
