❕ Tokayev unexpectedly urged Putin to stop the war in Ukraine

Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev called on Vladimir Putin to freeze the fighting and return to negotiations under an updated "Istanbul Formula 2.0" backed by guarantees from major world powers.

"It's heartbreaking that young people are dying. They are the gene pool of the brotherly peoples of Russia and Ukraine. All of this must be stopped," Tokayev said.

Putin, in response, merely said he would keep Tokayev informed about "developments on the Ukrainian front."

@BohuslavskaKate I don't get it. The West is not participating in a war, so why does the West need to stop? 🤷‍♂️ It is neither a war nor SMO, in any event - it's clearly an invasion by an aggressor nation. It's that aggression that needs to stop.

@Mylovanov Hey Elon @elonmusk If you’re not prepared to ask/suggest Russia should WITHDRAW, perhaps you could ask/suggest that Russia STOPS its invasion. That would deliver the peace which appears to be your goal too. Turn the focus on aggressor actions rather than victim concessions.
