The High Court has sentenced a matatu driver and conductor to 10 years in prison each after finding them guilty of murdering a 21-year-old college student who fell from their speeding vehicle on Thika Road nearly eight years ago.
Judge says their actions showed a reckless disregard for human life and directly led to the death of Doreen Kinya.

In the Eucharist, we find a visible manifestation of the reality that we are the Church of Christ, His members, His body. We are brothers and sisters in Him. And in Christ, though many and diverse, we are one: "In Illo uno unum". #CorpusChristi#MagnificaHumanitas

On May 13, 1981, Pope John Paul II was shot in St. Peter's Square.
Two bullets struck him.
Doctors later said he came dangerously close to death.
Yet after recovering, the Pope did something that stunned the world.
He went to prison.
Not to condemn his attacker.
To forgive him.
In December 1983, John Paul II sat face to face with Mehmet Ali Ağca and spoke privately with the man who tried to kill him.
The Pope later stated that he forgave him immediately.
This was not weakness.
It was Christianity.
Jesus prayed for His executioners from the Cross:
“Father, forgive them.” (Luke 23:34)
Forgiveness is one of the most difficult teachings of the Gospel.
Yet it is also one of its most powerful.
Who in your life is God asking you to forgive?

In this month of May, the Church entrusts people ravaged by war to the intercession of the Virgin Mary, especially through the prayer of the #HolyRosary. May Divine Wisdom enlighten the consciences of those in authority and guide their decisions toward a sincere search for a just and lasting #Peace.
In the Mystery of God – Father, Son and Holy Spirit – we are at home, just as Nicodemus felt at ease when he was in Jesus’ presence. The life of God is marvelous and captivating. It gives peace to our heart, which is often very restless, and it allows us to encounter our brothers and sisters in the joy of the Spirit. #GospelOfTheDay (Jn 3:16-18)
