Mourinho's last ever Real Madrid press conference was a masterpiece, reflecting on his legacy at the club.
A journalist tried to call his 3 seasons at the Bernabeu a 'failure'.
José Mourinho's fantastic reply:
"I brought a little paper, because I expected a question that demands a little paper. La Liga of all records: is mine. You want to disrespect it, but you won't be able to do it. Real Madrid were 20 years without winning the Copa del Rey… it's because it's not easy. We won the Copa after 20 years. The Supercopa we won is small, but we reached 3 Champions League semifinals. Personally, these semifinals don't feed my ego, nor do they satisfy me, may that be very clear. But it mustn't be easy. And I'll tell you why it mustn't be easy: because [lists the previous 18 Real Madrid coaches] John Toshack, Di Stefano, Antić, Beenhakker, Benito Floro, Arsenio, Fabio Capello, Heynckes, Hiddink, Del Bosque, Queiroz, Camacho, García Remón, Vanderlei Luxemburgo, Lopez Caro, Fabio Capello again, Juande Ramos, Schuster and Pellegrini... 18 coaches in 21 years: 5 Champions League semifinals. And Mourinho, who you say is bad, 3 Champions League semifinals in 3 years. Do you want to keep the little paper?"
Real Madrid went on to dominate football for the following decade, with the team Mourinho mostly built.
José Mourinho: "The Manchester United fans, they know that I gave everything that I could. I won what was possible to win, I didn't win what was not possible to win. I gave everything, I gave my life to the club and my professionalism, like I always do."
What Jose Mourinho did at Inter and FC Porto, Pep Guardiola could never, given the same circumstances. But for Bayern and Man City, Mourinho could have done it ten times better.
Mourinho went to Roma, ended their 14 year drought
Went to Chelsea, Ended their 50 year EPL title drought
Went to Inter needed their 49 year European drought
Certain coaches go to teams that win every year and you wanna compare these heathens to Jose Mourinho?
