Center of Kyiv, two Russian missiles hit a regular residential area

I am at the site of a truly horrendous Russian missile attack.

Overnight, one of the largest American investments in Ukraine – Flex – an active member of the American Chamber of Commerce was hit by Russian missiles.

This was not only an attack on Ukraine. It was an attack on American business. Two missiles struck the factory, where 600 employees were working the night shift. Thanks to strict safety protocols, every life was saved.

Russia is not only devastating Ukraine — it is destroying and humiliating American business.

The region neighbors the EU and has been considered the safest region in Ukraine. Now definitely not so.

We call on President Trump to stand with American business and to confront Vladimir Putin’s campaign of destruction.

У серпні 2024 року йому повідомили про підозру в незаконному збагаченні. Суд обрав запобіжний захід — заставу в 30 мільйонів гривень, яку вніс бізнесмен Едуард Мкртчан, чиї компанії беруть участь у державних закупівлях.

Паралельно критикується бездіяльність АМКУ у справі "Моршинської", через яку держава не отримує доходи від арештованого активу російського олігарха і купа всього іншого.

Попри розслідування, Кириленко продовжує очолювати Антимонопольний комітет України.

Одна з тем, яка зараз найбільше дратує — розмови про вибори.
Зараз пішла нова хвиля.

Людей годують сподіваннями, політики готуються до цих самих виборів та розгортають політичні кампанії вже тут і зараз.

Це становить вкрай велику небезпеку для України, бо в умовах демократії:

1) Людей розслабляють подібними розмовами. Мовляв, скоро все скінчиться, і будуть вибори.
Це негативно впливає на мотивацію людей діяти в інтересах оборони, на донати, на обʼєднаність перед лицем загрози.

2) Політичні кампанії провокують додаткові срачі між громадянами. Відсутність єдності — прямий шлях до катастрофи.

3) Політики починають діяти та говорити не крізь призму того, що необхідно для оборони держави, а з погляду чи вигідно казати/робити те чи інше для подальших виборів.
І це стосується як влади, так і опозиції.

Якщо ми керуємось політичними вподобаннями при ухваленні рішень, а не військовою необхідністю — можемо вже підписувати акт про капітуляцію.

Засмучу любителів готуватись до виборів.
Ніяких швидких переговорів чи замороження війни не буде.
Трамп не махне чарівною паличкою.
А ви будете діяти проти нашого виживання, якщо сподіваючись на це, вже будуєте плани на вибори.

Кожен, хто вже почав політичну кампанію — мудак, який не заслуговує на жоден голос українця у майбутньому.

Ми все бачимо, ми нічого не забудемо, ми будемо тримати фокус на цій темі та зробимо усе, щоб вас потім не обирали.

Якщо вибори взагалі колись будуть.

Ukrainians always return their debts. However, do Ukrainians always keep their word and return their citizens who are in captivity?

Putin needed to reduce the pressure inside his country and save his face by returning the conscripts who were captured in the Kursk region. Those responsible for the exchange on the Ukrainian side, according to a soviet tradition, had to organize a media “victory” before the holiday.

This formula did not find any place for Azov POWs who have been waiting for the promised exchanges for more than 2 years.

This is despite the fact that, in Ukraine, there is a colossal request from society for the return of those who in Mariupol in 2022 did everything to ensure that Ukraine continued to exist and today celebrated its Independence Day, not a “day of national unity”.

This is despite the fact that the captured Russians themselves asked to exchange them for Azov fighters.

This is despite the fact that the Ukrainian negotiating team had tremendous leverage during this exchange, being able to act from a position of strength.

All this has not been utilized. In today's exchange, again, there are no Azov fighters. Precious opportunity and time have been lost.

What are all the pompous words spoken today worth if none of the 900 loyal to Ukraine servicemen who are being treated the absolute worst in Russian captivity have been returned home?

Ukraine's Independence Day should be first and foremost about gratitude. Gratitude to those who dedicated themselves to the defense of Ukraine. And certainly to those who saved Ukraine's independence by obeying orders in an utterly hopeless situation. In a complete encirclement, without sufficient weapons and medical supplies, against the enemy's many times superior forces.

Ukraine has failed this test of gratitude today. The task has not been fulfilled. The next attempt will cost even more.

As you fall asleep tonight in your comfortable homes, where there are no warders, interrogations and torture, think about whether you really understand what independence is and whether you realize the price we pay for it. This will not console the families of those who celebrated Independence Day in captivity for the third time today. It will not make the conditions of my brothers in arms in Russian prisons any better. But perhaps it will help you finally decide to fight for the Azov POWs during the next negotiations, as they fought for Ukraine's independence in Mariupol.
