I recently received a postcard that attempts to discredit @ManoForStateRep of Houston by playing into the divisive tactic of promoting Islamophobia. Let's be clear: fear-mongering and spreading hatred have no place in our community. It's disheartening to see such attempts to create divisions among Texans.
Religious freedom is a pillar of our state, and ensuring that everyone has the right to worship God is essential to all Texans.
This mailer, with its insinuations about promoting Islamic law in Texas, is not just an attack on an individual but a part of a larger game aimed at dividing us. It's crucial that we rise above such attempts to create animosity by continuing to reach out to our neighbors and extending a welcome hand.
As Houstonians, as Texans, and as people of faith - it's essential that we stand united against fear and hatred. Let's actively work towards fostering understanding, breaking down stereotypes, and promoting the values that bring us together rather than tearing us apart.
Together, we can build a community that thrives on cooperation and shared respect for one another.
