The Department of Education (DepEd) in the Philippines is partnering with ASEAN countries to advance AI-driven digital infrastructure in basic education.

The goal is to improve learning outcomes, ease teachers' administrative burdens with AI tools, and build students' future-ready digital skills—while ensuring AI supports, rather than replaces, educators.

This was spotlighted at the 3rd Regional Policy Convening of the AI Ready ASEAN Programme on February 9, 2026, in Pasig City. The effort centers on Project https://t.co/7uz9egTWVc, DepEd's flagship AI program, aligned with the ASEAN Foundation and Google.org-supported AI Ready ASEAN initiative.

Nearly 796,000 Filipinos have completed basic AI literacy training so far, with the program promoting ethical AI use, regional policy alignment, and expanded digital readiness across Southeast Asia.
