Dear @GeorgeMonbiot, following your call to move 25% of society to action on climate change (the social tipping point) we wanted to share our research on HOW. Here are our 8 action points for creating highly scalable climate action communities. Welcome feedback from one and all🙏
@edgarrmcgregor Hi @edgarrmcgregor. My name's Harry, I'm the founder of a climate charity here in the UK. I'd love to send you an email/message on something if you're happy for me to? Not looking for anything in return just think it might be of real interest to you. Let me know, thanks.
@ClimateHuman@DoctorVive@kaleekreider It is difficult, but we think (we hope) it’s possible. Our (non-profit) solution is to make that shifting cultural/social norm visible through a collective action platform. And to try and create a new narrative in which people are the heroes of the story > https://t.co/YCj4lEkIVE
@KHayhoe You’re so right @KHayhoe. And we believe the best way to help people make coordinated, effective calls for change, is to join people together as one. That’s the purpose of our charity: https://t.co/YCj4lEkIVE. Here’s hoping..
@edgarrmcgregor Completely agree Edgar! Thank you for spreading this message. This is the exact thing we’re trying to do. Make action exciting, collective, social and VISIBLE. Be really interested to get your feedback: https://t.co/YCj4lECjNc thanks
@KHayhoe So true - thank you @KHayhoe. Moving those in the 'worried' circle into the 'activated' circle, is truly the most important climate solution that could exist.
We just published our latest update of our Big Oil Reality Check analysis.
Instead of actually confronting the climate crisis, big oil and gas companies’ climate pledges and plans still appear to be designed to disinform and distract.
@ClimateDad77 This is exactly what we're trying to do. Making regular collective action easy, exciting and impactful. Here's our prototype @ClimateDad77, be really interested to get your feedback if you have time: https://t.co/zOrx3XnuxF
@michaelsayman@KarenJan9 Campaigns.
Pages not-for-profits could launch where others could ‘join’ the campaign. Such an amazing social environment to organise and run effective campaigns, particularly in this critical time of climate crisis.
@steviedubyu@Telegraph@MaxStephensTele Great thread Steve. It is absolutely staggering that an article like this gets published in a respected mainstream newspaper like the @Telegraph. That it gets commission, written, signed off on by an editor. Disgraceful.
30°C above normal in the Arctic today.
40°C above normal in the Antarctic.
We are truly running out of time to safeguard the future of this planet, how much more do we need to say it? No more compromises. Climate & ecological breakdown doesn’t compromise
@KaitlinRaimi Great thread Kaitlin. Sounds very closely aligned to our beliefs at Snowball (small UK charity). It would be amazing to get your thoughts and feedback on what we building if you ever have the time… https://t.co/dhKlQq0PBJ (prototype). Thank you!!
"The study shows that although the forest may seem fine, with its normal structure and biodiversity, internal processes are already changing, silently, reducing the system’s capacity to persist in the long run."
