At the AU Ocean Governance Strategy (#AUOGS) meeting in Dar es Salaam, @_AfricanUnion, @UNEP, and @NairobiConv are working with Member States to finalize a continental vision.

@UNEP_Africa, with support from the Government of Japan @EoJZimbabwe, is advancing circular economy solutions in Zimbabwe through the Advancement of Circular Economy Approaches to Reduce Plastic Pollution project. ♻️

@peterecozim —an alliance of major beverage companies—will benefit from policy support, incentives & infrastructure to scale up PET bottle recycling. This is a crucial step in tackling plastic pollution and accelerating Zimbabwe’s transition to a circular economy.

The 2025 Mid-Term Review Meeting in Harare brought stakeholders together to advance Zimbabwe’s circular plastic economy. Progress includes microplastic assessment in the Manyame River & updating the national plastic inventory to tackle plastic leakage. ♻️🌍 #BeatPlasticPollution

The team later visited a recovery facility in Tafara, Harare, processing 2 tons of waste daily. Waste is sorted into plastics, paper, glass & organics. The soon to be Material Recovery Facility is tackling illegal dumping & turning waste into new products!
