I appreciate the last paragraph, but I don't agree with the context
Unfortunately, I attended a Nigerian public university and I saw first hand how you could practically give a lecturer everything he gave you in class, and still end up with a D
I saw how you could request for extra sheets in the exam hall, put down your name in the attendance sheet, and then spend the next semester looking for your exam sheet because it's missing
I saw how you could give your very best in the exam, deserving of an A, but you'll get a general F or E because Chemistry lecturers are beefing Engineering lecturers
I saw how you could be so good at a course, but fail to get an A because you didn't buy the lecturer's textbook
I saw how the lecturer could give you an A, but the person recording scores would mistakenly put a B and overturning that error would take connections
I saw how you could find your missing script where you had an A, but since it's too "late" to rewrite, you'll be asked to just rewrite. Hence, an unmerited carryover which would be demoralising
Horrible things happen in Nigerian public universities
Students face academic atrocities from the system. And I learnt to never judge a failing student without context
I also learnt to never make quotes about their situation, because half the time, it's never their fault
Day 1
What is Stocks?
A stock is a small piece of ownership in a company.
When you buy a stock, you are saying
“I own a part of this business”
For instance , I use an iPhone and I also have Apple stock ,this simply means I own a part of Apple business , I am not just a consumer .
If Apple grows and makes profit
📌I will earn dividends (a share of the company’s profit).
📌The value of my stock increases .
If Apple performs badly
📌The stock price can fall
📌I will lose money
So stocks move based on how well a company is doing and how people feel about its future .
Why should you pay attention to stocks in 2026?
📌The New York stock exchange (NYSE) and the Nasdaq comprises the deepest financial market in the world with over $60 Trillion of listed company value far larger than any other stock market globally.
📌The stock market host the biggest companies on earth.
Apple, Microsoft ,Nvidia , Alphabet(Google) etc.
📌Inflation will continue to reduce cash value , money sitting in banks is losing buying power yearly.
Stocks helps you stay ahead of inflation.
📌Strong institutions = Trust depth as a result of strong regulations and transparent reporting .
Very Important clarification :
NYSE + NASDAQ are the deepest equity (stock)markets globally.
But the deepest financial market overall is actually the US bond (Treasury ) market.
See you on day2.
