The United States is the worst possible place to host a global celebration that is supposed to welcome people from every corner of the world. A country so obsessed with itself, and burdened by one of the most restrictive and frustrating visa systems on the planet, has no business presenting itself as the centre of an international event.

When even a FIFA-approved official can be denied entry, it raises an obvious question: how many ordinary fans, tourists, and participants were also turned away? If internationally recognised officials cannot get through the door, what chance does the average visitor have?

If a country cannot reliably ensure that players, officials, participants, and fans from around the world can attend, then it has no place hosting events that claim to unite the world.
