@MathyMcMatherso This is so cool, yeah. At this point I'm not surprised at what you were able to do, but it's cool to think about ChatGPT as the tool that lets you quickly code-switch (literally) when the barrier is language, not knowledge.
Hi everybody <3
My work has had me thinking nonstop about LLMs, OpenAI, ChatGPT, and what this new era of generative AI means for teachers.
I might unravel this into a thread later, but for now, here's a link to my first draft ideas: https://t.co/DZugFeCE1C
@CmonMattTHINK What about being transparent about this rationale?
E.g. Admitting that 0! is unknown, but that nCr when n=r has to be 1. Sub in x for 0! and solve and then we have an identity?
Idk if this idea has legs, but if we're treating this like an identity, why not just embrace that?
@CmonMattTHINK My gut reaction was actually to say that this use case doesn't feel real, and if you never see it irl, then what "0!" equals is more a matter of agreed-upon convention than logic.
Got a school in Brooklyn who wants to do a mini 1-day hackthon, most likely in p5.js, which is rad!
If you're an engineer who wants to help out, hit me up, I'll put you in contact with the teacher :)
@CmonMattTHINK I think this only ends up being useful if you go from an equation to a table of values, then plot the values, and then connect the dots.
The idea that the graph is a map of values rather than "a weird magic shape that you transform with coefficients" is powerful for my S's
